FAMILY MEETING

Family Meeting This Wednesday!

Hello North Anderson family and friends!

We’re looking forward to seeing you all this Wednesday for our Spring 1st Wednesday Meal and family meeting! We will not be having any regularly scheduled services but ask you to prayerfully consider joining us for this important time of fellowship and meeting that we have twice a year.

We will begin serving the meal at 5:30pm and menu for the meal is ham, mac and cheese, green beans, potato salad, deviled eggs, and banana pudding for dessert. The cost is $8 per person and is capped at $32 per family.

At approximately 6:15pm, Moderator Steve Gibson will open our Spring Family Meeting. You’ll hear a bit about some exciting things that are coming up for our church family as well as some reports regarding ministry and stewardship, but the primary purpose of our meeting will be to present and vote on two items of business.

For the sake of clarity, our staff determined it would be wise and prudent to share these items with you in advance.

Item #1 is a new Maternity/Paternity Leave Policy for paid staff.
Our Personnel Team met in January and voted unanimously to recommend that the church adopt an 8-week paid maternity leave and a 6-week paid paternity leave for our Policy and Procedures Manual. We currently have no policy regarding concerning this matter. The inclusion of this new policy and the length of time allotted is in keeping with churches in our area.

Item #2 involves the stewardship of a budget surplus that we had after the 2024 fiscal year. Our Finance Chair, Stephen Bryant, will share the exact figures during our meeting but to briefly lay out the unanimous recommendation of the Finance Team.

In regard to a budget surplus, the precedent over the past couple of years has been to use a portion of it to target debt, and the remainder to be allotted to capital reserves. With this year’s budget surplus, our Finance Team recommends that we use the largest portion of it to target existing debt and then divide the rest between capital reserves and missions.

Our team believes that stewarding this surplus well involves not only investing in our own future through adding to capital reserves but also investing in the Kingdom work by funneling some of this funding to enhance our mission reach and encourage missional engagement.

The team seeks to accomplish this is three ways
  • In honor of the 200-year anniversary of the Cooperative Program, we’ll be investing a gift from our surplus to the CP (this will be in addition to the percentage CP giving that we already give).
  • To invest more heavily in the ongoing church planting partnership that we have in Pittsburgh, we’ll be sending a financial gift from our budget surplus to Reclamation Church in the New Kensington area of the city.
  • We will use a portion of the surplus to establish a brand new “Mission Scholarship Fund” that will be available for North Anderson church members to apply for when they have the opportunity to go on a short-term mission trip. Our hope is that these scholarships will help to offset the costs of trips and encourage missions’ engagement. It will become a Designated Fund that anyone can contribute towards as the Lord directs.

The Finance Team is going to recommend to the church family that we steward the surplus that we have in those three ways: Targeting debt, adding to capital reserves, and Kingdom impact.

We are happy to answer any questions that you may have about either of these two agenda items and look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday!

In Christ Alone,
Pastor DK Caudell
