Advent, Day 8
December 8th
“For a child will be born for us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on his shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace” - Isaiah 9:6
In the hustle and bustle of life, when we face challenges, confusion, and heartache, we often seek counsel—someone to guide us, offer wisdom, and help us make sense of it all. The good news of the gospel is that we don’t need to look far for that wisdom, because Jesus is our Wonderful Counselor.
This title, given to Jesus in the prophecy of Isaiah, speaks to the incredible depth of wisdom and insight He offers. As the Wonderful Counselor, Jesus doesn’t just offer advice from a distance; He understands our struggles intimately, because He walked on earth as we do. His counsel is not just practical but divine, rooted in eternal truth, compassion, and love. He knows what we need even when we don't have the words to express it.
In times of decision, in moments of sorrow, or when the path seems unclear, we can turn to Christ for guidance. He is not distant or detached, but ever-present, offering us wisdom that is perfect and full of grace. His counsel brings peace, comfort, and clarity—because it is grounded in His perfect will for our lives.
Personal Reflection:
Is there an area of your life where you need counsel today? Bring it before Christ in prayer. Ask Him to guide you with His wisdom, and trust that His counsel is both loving and true.
Prayer Prompt:
Thank the Lord Jesus for being our Wonderful Counselor and ask Him to help you to listen to His voice and follow His path, knowing that His counsel is always for our good.
