Advent Devotion, Day 7

December 7th

"The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone." - Isaiah 9:2

Advent is a season of waiting—waiting for the coming of Christ, both as the child in the manger and as the Savior who will return in glory. In this time of anticipation, we reflect on the hope that the birth of Jesus brings to a world steeped in darkness.

In the Old Testament, the prophet Isaiah speaks to a people longing for deliverance. They were in the midst of political turmoil, oppression, and uncertainty. Yet, in the midst of their waiting, Isaiah foretells a coming light—a light that would pierce the darkness. That light is Jesus.

As we enter the season of Advent, we too find ourselves waiting—not only for Christmas but for the ultimate fulfillment of God's promise to restore and renew all things. In the waiting, we are called to reflect on the hope that Christ's first coming brings to our present situation and the hope that His second coming will bring the final victory over sin and death.

Personal Reflection:
Advent reminds us that even in the darkest moments of life, the promises of Christ shine brightly. How can you allow that light to shine through you to others this season?

Prayer Prompt:
Ask the Lord Jesus to help us to live in the light of His hope and to fill our hearts with peace and joy as we prepare to celebrate His birth.
