This Week @ North Anderson
Hello, North Anderson family & friends!
One of my favorite passages in the New Testament is John 8:12. In this text, Jesus described aptly Himself in this way, “I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows me will never walk in the darkness but will have the light of life.”
John, one of Jesus’ closest friends, wrote this about Jesus, “In him was life, and that life was the light of men. That light shines in the darkness, and yet the darkness did not overcome” - John 1:4-5
These are only two of the many passages that describe our Lord as the light of the world.
How, then, does the scriptures describe us, His followers?
“You are the light of the world. A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket, but rather on a lampstand, and it gives light for all who are in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven” – Matthew 5:14-16
According to Jesus Himself, those who follow Jesus are to manifest His light through our lives such that the people of this dark world see it and may bring God glory.
What a privilege to be a light bearer! What an honor! What a responsibility!
As a church, we desire to shine brightly for our Lord and let the radiance of the light we have in Christ extend to the nations! As we continually endeavor to do so, it would serve us well to recall the words of the great evangelist CT Studd, “The light that shines the farthest, shine the brightest at home”.
The evangelist couldn’t have been more accurate here.
The pathway to a great impact on the uttermost parts of the world, is intentional and focused missions impact on our Jerusalem (our own community).
In the midst and the aftermath of the storms that ripped through our own area a few days ago, it was a joy to see the light of the Lord Jesus beaming through our church family as you served your community.
We were blessed to cook, prepare, and hand out nearly 200 hotdog plates to our neighbors, free of charge, as the power outage prohibited them from cooking their own meals. There was a food drive here on our campus to help restock the barren shelves of AIM. A group of North Anderson folks traveled to a local non-profit to assist them in their work. There is story after story of our church members helping their neighbors in a variety of ways with food, showers, cleanup, etc.
Well done, church family! That’s what it means to be on mission!

Verse For The Week:
“This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light, and there is absolutely no darkness in him. If we say, “We have fellowship with him,” and yet we walk in darkness, we are lying and are not practicing the truth. If we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.” – 1 John 1:5-7
Prayer Focus:
An elderly Buddhist woman, known as Grandma, had a physical ailment for 30 years. Through her Buddhist faith, she had tried many things to receive healing, but nothing worked. One day, local believers visited her home to share Christ with her and prayed for her healing. Afterwards, Grandma decided to ask the Creator God for healing herself, and the Lord healed her! She began studying the Bible in her home weekly. She soon requested to have her own copy of the Bible so that she could read more. Despite only having an elementary school education, she began reading the Bible daily. Within a month, she read through all four gospels, and God is giving her understanding. After reading the Book of Mark, she took down her family idols and decided to become a follower of Jesus. Grandma's life has been transformed by God! Pray that she will be bold to share her faith with her family and friends.
