Devotional Thoughts for Today’s Christian

Today’s devotion from Oswald Chambers is entitled, The Servant’s Primary Goal. He uses part of the passage from 2 Corinthians 5:9, “So we make it our goal to please him…” We as Christians should constantly keep our primary goal in front of us. What is that goal? To be well pleasing to God” is the primary goal of every Christian. Many times we are not reaching that goal because we have lost our focus and so we ought to examine our lives regularly to make sure that nothing is getting in the way of our lives reaching to please the Lord. We need to keep in mind that we are in the business of seeking to please One person and One only, the Lord. 2 Timothy 2:15 says, “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” Let nothing divert you from this goal and everything this is done by you and me let it be guided in such a way that it is profitable to our goal and everything that is not should b e rejected.
Hebrews 12:2, “…fixing our eyes on Jesus…” should be the theme for us as we live, that we may reach the primary goal in life. Living with our goal in mind will allow us to be pleasing to God publicly because we are privately in step with God. What is your primary goal in life? If it is less than pleasing God you should evaluate your life once again.
