I was reading a writing by Mart DeHaan in “Our Daily Bread”. There is the story of a famous celebrity that was given a live, small alligator as a gag gift. She really didn’t know what to do with it so she put it in her bathtub with some water. She then had to leave the house. When she returned home, there was a note from her housekeeper that simply said: “I quit. I am sorry but I do not work in houses where there is an alligator. I would have told you sooner, but I never thought it would come up.”

Too often “new” Christians start their walk in pure excitement and with heavenly expectations. They never anticipate the alligators. Alligators can come in many forms. There are also “experienced” Christians that seem to never be ready for the ever sure to come, alligators.
1 Peter 4:12-13 New International Version (NIV); “Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when His glory is revealed.”
Do you sometimes feel sorry for yourself? Do you sometimes feel it just isn’t fair? Have you ever questioned God?
John 16:33 New International Version (NIV); “I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
No matter, don’t let troubles or disillusionment challenge your Faith. Stand strong.
