Several days ago I sent out a devotion on pornography. I have been asked to follow up on that with a writing on how to overcome pornography. Pornography is the number one cause of sexual assault, rape, and sex trafficking; including that of children. Needless to say, it is a sin and offensive to God. As a sin, God will help you overcome it. The very first step would be to confess your sin, put your full faith in God and realize that you cannot overcome such an addiction without His help and strength. Jesus said:

John 15:5 Contemporary English Version (CEV); “I am the vine, and you are the branches. If you stay joined to Me, and I stay joined to you, then you will produce lots of fruit. But you cannot do anything without Me.
God provides strength through the Holy Spirit dwelling in you. This strength will allow you to overcome all odds in fighting a pornography addiction.
Ephesians 3:14-20 Revised Standard Version (RSV); “For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of His glory He may grant you to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have power to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to Him who by the power at work within us is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think.”
Yes, it is a sin; but certainly not an unforgivable sin. Once again, you must confess pornography as a sin and God will be ready to forgive that sin and help you overcome it.
1 John 1:9 Revised Standard Version (RSV); “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Fill your mind with the Word of God through reading and studying scripture. Let there be no room in your mind for pornographic thoughts or desires.  Stay in contact with Christian brothers and sisters for strength and accountability. By staying in God’s word, you will fill your mind with those things that are pleasing to Him.
Philippians 4:8 Revised Standard Version (RSV); “Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”
As Paul wrote in the tenth chapter of Corinthians; there is no temptation that has overtaken you that is not common to man or woman. You must remember, God is faithful and with temptation, He will also provide a way of escape so that you can overcome it. Jesus said that He wanted us to be inthe world, He just did not want us to be of the world.
John 15:19 Paraphrased;” I did not call you to be of the world, but to be in the world. If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but you are not to be of the world, for I chose you out of the world.”
1 John 2:16 Revised Standard Version (RSV); “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, is not of the Father but is of the world.”
It really gets to be rather simple. If you will dwell on God’s Scripture and teachings constantly, therefore filling your mind and heart with His Word, there will be no room for much else.
