I had the honor of leading a group of Firemen in a recent Bible study. Part of our discussion was based on “Firefighters For Christ”.
According to their website. Firefighters For Christ was established in January, 1976, at a breakfast meeting in Southern California. In June of 1978, Firefighters For Christ became international and was established as an incorporated organization. If you look at their Vision Statement, Mission Goal, Ministry Focus and it’s Purposes; you will find a message we should all strive to live by on a day to day basis.
Its vision is to reach firefighters worldwide with the gospel of Jesus Christ and to make disciples of them.
Matthew 28:19-20 New International Version (NIV); “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Its mission goal is to encourage firefighters to live their lives for Jesus Christ.
Hebrews 10:24-25 New International Version (NIV); “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
Its ministry focus is to know Christ.
John 17:3 New International Version (NIV); “Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.”
Philippians 3:10 New International Version (NIV); “I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of His resurrection and participation in His sufferings, becoming like Him in His death.”
Its purposes are:
•To glorify God in the Fire Service.
•To fellowship together for individual growth in the Christian life.
•To serve the cause of Christ through the church of one’s own choice.
•To encourage those in the fire service in their Christian life.
•To bring all Christians in the fire service to a common goal of praying for the fire service and its members.
•To be perfected in unity so that the world will know that God has sent His Son Jesus Christ.
John 17:23 New International Version (NIV); “I in them and you in Me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that You sent Me and have loved them even as You have loved Me.
Perhaps we should all strive to be “Firefighters” for Christ.
