I had an interesting conversation with a Pastor friend of mine that got me thinking about something that I guess I had really not considered. Are we all “children of God” or “creations of God” or perhaps both?
Colossians 1:16; “For by God all things were created,in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, all things were created through Him and for Him.”
Here, the Bible is very clear that all people are God’s creation. The Bible also teaches how to become a child of God.
John 1:12; “But to all who did receive Him,who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.”
Throughout Scripture, those that have not accepted Christ as their Savior and do not serve Him, are not referred to as children of God.
Romans 9:8; “This means that it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God.”
Jesus Christ tells us:
John 8:42; “If God were your Father, you would love me.”
In John 8:44; Jesus went so far as to say, there were those who belonged to the Devil not children of God.
“You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”
Jesus Christ was not and is not afraid to speak the truth. Are you?
1 John 3:10; “By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.”
I get a “kick” when people question me and my relation to His Word. I am only a servant of Him most high, a mere slave to His Word. Of that, I choose to be. Any other will be of His grace.
Romans 8:14-17; “For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receivethe spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, ‘Abba! Father!’ The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with Him in order that we may also be glorified with Him.
