I just read one of the most appalling news’s stories. There absolutely must be some mistake.
“The speaker of the Ugandan parliament has promised she will pass the so-called “Kill the Gays” bill in the next two weeks — she called it a “Christmas gift” for the Ugandan people. The bill would legalize the death penalty for LGBT people and people with HIV or AIDS.”
Apparently, this is not new in Uganda. The article goes on and on about how Uganda’s President Museveni, has dedicated his country to God and repentance. This is more than an act against sin or homosexuals. It is a pious judge-mentation and absolute disregard for the teachings of Jesus. They are promoting a violation of one of the Ten Commandments, “Thou shalt not murder” in order to perpetuate violence against a select group of people. Sin and/or homosexuality is not the issue here; it is love, compassion as well as human rights. The bill continues to promote persecution for those guilty of or even knowing of “sexual immorality.”
Matthew 5:27-28 New International Version (NIV); “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”
1 John 3:15 New International Version (NIV); “Anyone who hates a brother or sisteris a murderer,and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him.”
Now; which one of us is not guilty? I know I put my stone down.
John 8:7; “Now Jesus looked at the crowd with disdain, and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone.”
Perhaps someone needs to “get the log out of their own eye, before taking the speck from another’s.” It really saddens my heart to witness and even feel, the hatred of some professed “christians”. These same people would be the first to agree that love is the highest and noblest of virtues. However, Christian love cannot be limited to only those who agree with us. Remember, there is no excuse for ‘unloving’ behavior. Jesus tells us in Matthew 22:37-40;
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
