Sometimes well meaning people tell me my writings are a little controversial. I am sorry to hear that, because I was hoping that occasionally they were a lot controversial. Often I feel led by God to write something that makes people think a little. As Christians we are not supposed to be complacent in our beliefs nor are we to be overly comfortable in our day to day life. We really need to pay attention to what Paul was inspired to write to Timothy.
2 Timothy 3:16 Contemporary English Version (CEV); “Everything in the Scriptures is God’s Word. All of it is useful for teaching and helping people and for correcting them and showing them how to live.”
That does not mean that we are to interpret scripture to fit our way of life. It means that we are to study scripture, to interpret scripture and then change our life to fit God’s teachings. The Bible does not need updating; our lives need updating. The Pastor I mentored under and I were talking one day. I told him I wanted to deliver messages, whether written or spoken, that made people feel guilty. He wisely corrected me and said; not guilty but challenged. Wonderful!! Shouldn’t we all be challenged daily by His word? Whatever you are doing, do you want to be doing it at the Rapture or Second Coming? When you are reacting to a situation or a person…What WOULD Jesus Do?
Matthew 5:17 Contemporary English Version (CEV) “Don’t suppose that I came to do away with the Law and the Prophets.I did not come to do away with them, but to give them their full meaning.”
