There is an old story about a chicken named Chicken Little. Seems an acorn fell and hit him in the head. He overreacted and thought the sky was falling and the world was coming to an end. He started running around and shouting, “The sky is falling, the sky is falling!!” As he spread the word, other fowl joined in with the message of impending doom. There are various endings to the story, but I like the one where a fox invites them to dinner to discuss the situation and they all get eaten by the fox. Now, I am not a violent, vindictive person; but there is a lesson to be learned here. Psalm 46:1; “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” Now Chicken Little could be me or you. Just running around in our troubles and worry, while spreading a negative outlook. Could go so far and say the fox was Satan who consumed them all. May have even been a little fire there. However, God is always there for us if we will but turn to Him. Hebrews 13:5; “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” God is our strength and refuge. If you are truly trying to follow the will of God and things just don’t seem to be working out, remember: Romans 8:31b; “If God is for us, who can be against us?” Sure we may not understand all that is going on, but we can rest assured that He is with us and will work all out to His will and our good. Romans 8:28; “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”
Do you feel like you may be sometimes a little like Chicken Little?
