The Word “God”

10th February 2012 by Bill Davis
NBC recently did a poll about keeping the word “God” in American culture. This was done, as I understand through other research, to show public displeasure in “forcing” Christian beliefs on others. Once again, as I understand, they received as much or more responses than any other survey to date. It seems 86% of those interviewed wanted the name of God left in our culture. That is truly awesome, but I beg the question; Where do they want it left? On our money? “In God We Trust. In our pledge? One Nation Under God. Where exactly do we leave it? It seems the 86% is allowing the 14% to dictate where His word is left. As someone explained to me; seems if you break virtually any of the Ten Commandments, you end up in court. So why has it been required to remove the Ten Commandments from our courthouse walls. Seems like a good everyday message or warming to me. How can anyone deliver the laws of life in just ten statements on a stone tablet, while our system says even less on thousands of pages? God inspired? You decide. What will it take for the 86% to stand up and say, “Hey, wait a minute, why are only 14% telling me where I can pray, how I can worship, how to raise and educate my children, how I pay respect to the thousands of those who have died for the freedom I have…but seem reluctant or scared to exercise and defend their God given rights? Jesus Christ was a powerful man on earth. He stood up against evil in government and at home. He gave His very life for us. What little can we do? HE DIED FOR YOU! Who do you know is willing to do that for you right now? What will it take, how far will the 14% go, before we stand up for what is right? It is so much easier to just think, “Someone else will take care of it.” Don’t count on it. It may be a horrible mistake.

Matthew 10:33; “Whoever disowns Me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven.”
Matthew 5:17; “Do not think I have come to abolish the Law; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.”
Proverbs 3:3; “Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.”

In many ways, we as professed believers have refused to acknowledge and even denied our faith in God. The world calls us naive and even ignorant. This world, as we know it, will go to Hell without Jesus. If you want to take a stand and save others, you must take that stand for God.

Matthew 28:19-20 Selected; “Go and make disciples of all nations. Teach them to obey everything I have commanded.”
