Where Is God’s Will In All This? Devotion

8th October 2011 by Bill Davis
When bad things happen, we often wonder where God is and why did He let this happen?¬†Sometimes God allows bad things to happen in order for something unseen to be accomplished. It is easier to believe and understand that which we can see and touch but often difficult to understand the unseen. I have heard life described as a hand made quilt. On the back we may see only loose threads and random knots, but on the other side is a beautiful work of art. As Christians we should not blame God but remain true to our faith in His will. Through Christ’s resurrection and our acceptance of His salvation, we will experience a heavenly glory that will far outweigh all the suffering that we will endure on this earth. We should fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. We need to remember and believe that what is seen is temporary, but that which is unseen is eternal. As Paul teaches us in his letter to the believers in Corinth, 2 Corinthians 4:16b;Outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.” 18; “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 5:1; “Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God.” Do you think God might just reward a special believer by taking them Home to be with Him? Hard to understand…yes. Do we miss them…certainly. But there is comfort in knowing they are in their eternal home with God. Jesus said: John 14:2; “In My Father’s house are many rooms. I am going there to prepare a place for you.” 27; “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
