Words Of My Mouth: Devotion

Psalm 19:14
“May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, Oh Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.”

Are the things you do and the things you think pleasing to God? You know He sees you and knows what you are thinking. There is so much here about how we communicate with God. Even our very thoughts and meditations are heard by Him. I heard once how even a blind person knows the sun is out. They can feel it’s warmth on their face and skin. Let us not be “blind” to the warmth of God’s presence. I have often heard, it is better to live a sermon than to preach one. Or: I can’t hear your words because your actions are so loud. We can speak eloquently and quote scripture, but if the voice of our heart every day is saying something different; we are like a noisy gong. Corinthians 13:1; “If I speak in the tongues of men and of angles, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong.” The goal of a true Christian should not be to please themself or to please others; but to please God. We should pray that our very words and thoughts translate into actions which please and glorify God. Galatians 1:10; “Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.” Standing up for Christ is not always the easiest route, but it is by far the most rewarding. Having your very thoughts controled by Him is freedom to live as called without fear of retribution from others. Judgement, certainly. Good or bad, rest assured it is God’s will if you live according to his purpose. Romans 8:31b; “If God is for us, who can be against us?” Psalm 28:7; “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped.” Can you say with conviction that you believe these words?
