Day Ten: “The Spiritual Way”

9th September 2011 by Bill Davis

 Colossians 3: 15-16a

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.

 Hebrews 13:7-8

“Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

David Francis in his book Spiritual Gifts defines a spiritual gift as “a God given assignment, capacity, and desire to perform a function within the body of Christ.” If you feel God has chosen your Pastor and others to be alive in the Spirit, then the Spirit must also be alive in the hearts of the member’s. We should all be involved in something, willing to use the gifts God bestowed on each of us. Pray daily for Him to use you that very day to bring forth His message of salvation. If we have truly accepted the Holy Spirit into our hearts, then we do have gifts. God promises us that. A good friend told me,” God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called.” We must search in earnest for ways we can help our church and others with whatever gift God gave us. If you don’t use it (the gift), you may lose it.

Our Heavenly Father, the one to whom we can call Abba; please give us the desire and will to share of gifts. Help us to serve our community and church. Together we can build within ourselves and our church a living ministry for all who come unto us the love we share and the hospitality we offer.
