Day Three “Abba Father”

2nd September 2011 by Bill Davis

 Abba, Father

Romans 8:15-16 NIV

For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by Him we cry, ‘Abba, Father.’ The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.”

We all want to have a good close relationship with our Heavenly Father. When we are able to call on God as Abba with assurance; that relationship is reached. Abba is the revelation of intimacy. The New Testament was translated from Greek, but the word Abba is Aramaic. There is virtually no word in the English language to show the same intimacy. The closest word to its meaning would be “Daddy.” It is a word that will bring us into the presence and realization of God as our Father…as our Daddy. It is a relationship that can only be achieved with a constant searching of His will through Bible study and prayer. Are you ready to call God, Abba?

Dear God, we thank You for Your written word. We thank You for the opportunity to study alone and with others. We long for a close and personal relationship with You. We long for the comfort of knowing You as our Father and we pray for the day when we too can call you Abba.
