Where Is God In All This? Devotion

26th July 2011 by Bill Davis
I have tried not to use these daily devotions as a “platform” to promote any ideology beside Christianity. There is a movement in this Country and apparently a lack of movement in the Christian community, to control our right to worship God and a lack of willingness to turn to God’s Word for guidance as our Forefathers wished. Men and women over the ages have given their time and often their lives to guarantee us freedom. Our Country was founded on Christian principals and beliefs. Why then are we hindered from praying in school, at sporting events, and graduations? The Ten Commandments have been recognized as some of the greatest rules to live by. Why then are we required to remove them from public places? Can you see how utterly ridiculous that really is? A small group of people can dictate what the majority can and can’t say or do in a “free” Country? Yes, Jesus taught to turn the other cheek, but He also cleared the temple of robbers and thieves and those that were taking advantage of the common person by abusing their authority. There is a moral decline in our pulpits today. I am not talking about only the pulpits in churches, but the individual pulpits we all have to spread His word from. A lack of strength and courage to step out and be counted for Him, who counted for us. Mark 8:38; “If anyone is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, The Son of Man will be ashamed of him.” 2 Corinthians 13:5; “Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the Faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—–unless, of course, you fail the test?”  I have read and heard so often of late that the only hope for these United States is to have a new awakening and realization in the need for Biblical directives, not only in individual lives but perhaps more importantly, in the life of our government. The first would certainly lead to the second. There is such a moral decline in our society that our very own children will surely pay the price for our own unwillingness to stand for what we know is right.
Where is God in all this? God hasn’t gone anywhere. He is still right here. It is us that have turned from Him.
