It is Tuesday morning and the chief priest, elders and scribes are plotting to kill Jesus. Yes, Jesus knew what was happening and what was going to happen. As one with God, He knew this had to happen; but also as man, He had to have some fear as well. You may think you are having a bad week, but think about Jesus. Not only is this Easter week, but it is a week showing the fulfillment of prophesy. It is the fulfillment of God’s will and a sign of the infallible accuracy of scripture. Isaiah 50:6; “I offered my back to those who beat me, my cheeks to those who pulled out my beard; I did not hide my face from mocking and spitting.” Isaiah 49:7; “This is what the Lord says; the Redeemer and Holy One of Israel; to Him who was despised and abhorred by the nation, to the servant of rulers.” The people were not just mad at Jesus. They did not just dislike Him. They abhorred Him! Knowing that you were going to suffer horribly and die for these same people had to be a heavy burden. It was prophesied that Jesus would be despised and hated. John 15:24-25; “As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: ‘They hated me without reason.” Jesus goes on to teach us that we should share His word with others no matter what they say about us. John 15:18; “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.”
Jesus died for us, shouldn’t we be willing to live for Him?
