Members of North Anderson Baptist Church
Dear Friends and Family,
We are dawning on an exciting new day at NABC! As more than 10,000 square feet of space is added to our church facilities, we will see remarkable changes to where we started over 60 years ago. Our Call, however, has not changed. God continues to lead us to reach boys, girls, men, and women in Anderson for Christ, as well as those around our state and in our world. He also calls us to grow Believers of all ages to be more like Him. Through the years, North Anderson Baptist Church has sought to be where God is at work. We have joined Him through personal ministry and through financial support, giving hundreds of thousands of dollars to support His work here and around the world. God is obviously at work among us, and we are confident that the addition to and renovation of our facilities will provide more opportunities for answering His Call.
The adventure we are embarking upon IS an exciting one and will require that every member share in the responsibility of giving. In addition to the new building, and renovations to our existing building, we have voted to purchase the property next door to the church office. We have prayed for this property for several years and now God has opened the door for us to purchase it at a lower price than what we could have bought it for three years ago. We marvel at His goodness and give Him the glory for what He has done and what He will continue to do among us!
North Anderson Baptist Church has a history of quickly paying down debt on property that comes available to us, and this is the focus that your deacons, trustees, and staff are recommending at this time. We would like to set a goal to pay off the $145,000, plus closing costs, as quickly as possible and then focus completely on the new building project. For this reason, all money that is given designated for “debt retirement” will be applied to the debt on the property until it is paid off. I am eager to see God’s Hand at work through each of us as we sacrificially give, trusting Him to provide! Reaching this goal quickly calls for all church members to do their part. You have heard the phrase, “Not equal giving, but equal sacrifice.” All of us cannot give the same amount, but all of us can sacrificially give as God leads. Some of our members are homebound, either permanently or temporarily, but even you can have a part in the work of God through the church you have served faithfully over the years.
I encourage you to pray about what God would have you to give and then trust Him to provide. We have found in our own family’s giving that if we commit ahead of time to a weekly or monthly amount for sacrificial gifts - above and beyond what we are giving to the budget of our church – God always provides what we need. I have witnessed first hand, and I know many of you have, too, that God will provide for our personal needs as well as for our church’s needs when we give as He leads and trust Him with our gifts. Remember that the ministries of the church must continue. The work of God’s church is done through the tithes and offerings of His people. (1 Corinthians 16:2, “On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income…” NIV) Paying for our building and property must be above the tithe and offerings to the budget. We are confident that, even in challenging financial times, God will provide the finances needed to meet the opportunities that have come our way by His Hand.
Paul says in 2 Corinthians 9:6-7, “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” It is my prayer that we will sow with faith so that we may reap greatly because we have trusted the Father to provide for all our needs and more. I also pray that we will do this with such great joy that the entire world will see that our God loves a cheerful giver and blesses those who give with joy.
I pray that you will begin to give now. Pray about exactly what God would have you commit to give on a weekly or monthly basis toward retiring our debt – above your tithes and offerings to the regular church budget. In the near future, you will be hearing more about an opportunity to make your pledge toward the total debt retirement. Through this program we will be able to set goals and watch as God works miracles in our families and in our church! May each of us make this a matter of prayer and respond as God leads.
Looking with anticipation to see the Lord Jesus return in His glory!
Your pastor and friend,
Bill
